***Our apologies for cross-posting***
Dear Colleagues,
We are organizing a symposium in the area of Person-Organization (P-O) Fit and Stigma for the SIOP 2013 conference and have room for one or two additional presenters to join our session.
Our research focuses on stigmatized individuals' perceptions of supplementary and complementary P-O fit conditions and how stigmatization affects interviewers' decisions in the context of P-O fit.
Our symposium may take one of the following directions:
- Stigma/stereotyping in the context of P-O fit (papers that examine stigma or stereotyping in the P-O fit context are welcome)
- Constraints to fitting in (papers are welcome that examine constraints that may make it difficult for applicants to showcase their fit with the organization; stigma is one of them)
- Can stigma be an asset and not a barrier? (papers are welcome that investigate hiring situations when stigma may actually benefit applicants)
- Stigma in the hiring process (papers are welcome that examine various adverse aspects of stigmatization in the hiring process)
If you have ongoing research that may fit any of the above themes and are interested in contributing to the symposium, please email Marina Astakhova (mastakho@gmail.com) or Pamela Waltz (pwaltz@niu.edu) by August 20th with a one-paragraph description of your potential contribution.
The submission deadline for the SIOP 2013 conference is September 12th.
We look forward to collaborating with you.
Kindest regards,
