Dear friends and collegues, It is a great pleasure to remind you that the VI International Conference of Work and Family will be held in Barcelona, Spain and it is organized by the International Center for Work and Family of IESE Business School. The International Center for Work and Family founded an academic forum in 2005 –the International Conference of Work and Family- to create a vision and to build theory, with special attention to the cross-cultural dimension and the application of theory in an organizational context. Speakers for the last conferences included: Ellen Kossek (Purdue University), Tammy Allen (University of South Florida), Stephen Sweet (Ithaca College), Tim Hall (Boston University), Brad Harrington (Boston College) and Marcie Pitt-Catsouphes (Boston College) among others. The sixth bi-annual International Conference of Work & Family aims to focus on Balance, Technology, and Globalization and the keynote speakers for this edition will be Nancy Rothbard (Wharton, University of Pennsylvania) and Lisa Leslie (Stern, New York University)
In an age in which information technology has brought the promise of autonomy and control by allowing asynchronous communications; in which work systems have enabled people to work from various times and locations; in which work and non-work boundaries have as a result been blurred; the work and family interface need to be reconsidered. We are specifically interested in papers that focus on new perspectives in work-family that address a wide range of topics current problems, and contribute with solutions to those problems. For example, what are the impacts of changes in the global economy? How do global workers cope with work-family issues? How does information technology impact work-family dynamics? The Conference will take place in July 1st and 2nd at IESE Campus in Barcelona. Proposals for the different options should be submitted through the electronic system available in this site. http://www.iese.edu/en/faculty-research/events/6-international-conference-work-family/ If you are interested in participating, please submit a 800 word short-paper by March 16, 2015. Acceptance notification will be communicated by April 15, 2015. Submission of full-papers will be due by June 5, 2015. We especially encourage theoretical and innovative empirical papers, as well as quantitative and qualitative analyses.
We will also select the best single or first-authored original paper among PhD candidates and young scholars (within five years of receiving their doctoral degree). The first author of the selected paper will receive a travel award that can be used to defer most of the flight and conference fee. All participating PhD students will receive a special discount on the conference fee.
