    Dear all,

a friend of mine at the Humboldt Univ. in Berlin is looking for some measurement instruments. If anybody happens to know any of the answers or suggestions, please write her directly

    Dr. Christina Anderson,
    ca2583@googlemail.com

    Thank you very much!

    Dear OB list members,

I am looking for a structured/semi-structured interview (or simply guidelines oder questions) that will support people in the process of discovering their strengths, skills and talents. Does anyone of you knows any instruments? Which questions do I need to ask to help people to constructively think about where their skills and talents lie? If you happen to know anything in this direction I would be very thankful for you help!

    Hi, Darja,

Just to make sure I understand what your friend would like:
Is your friend looking for *measurement* instruments, or are they looking for something that will help people *themselves* discover strengths, talents, etc.?

I'm asking because, from the way Christina wrote her bit, I get the sense that she's trying to help people, not to measure them. Those would be very, very different types of instruments. For helping other people, I would suggest that she try counseling and clinical psychology resources, or some of the coaching literature. They're probably more likely to have developed semi-structured interviews of the type she's interested in.

While I don't have any suggestions for *measurement* instruments, if she's truly interested in measuring these attributes, it might be worth her while to join AOM (if she hasn't already) and sign up for the Research Methods division. The RMNet listserv is extremely responsive and helpful for questions both quantitative and qualitative.

Hope she finds what she needs!

    yrs,
    Thomas
