I've been tasked with developing a graduate level interdisciplinary leadership course that will be taught in our MBA program, but could also be taken by graduate students in Nutrition, Sciences (primarily Biology) and/or Education. Is anyone willing to share a syllabus for a similar course or give me some ideas on appropriate books or articles, especially in the non-business disciplines?  I will post a summary of my responses.
    Thanks,
    Jane

This is one of those responses that doesn't answer the question, but....
There are a great number of texts to choose from, but there are some interesting ways to bring content and context into the classroom by relying on students to bring something from their own "discipline" as a reading/or exercise in the instructional context. This works best when the students are established professionals with at least some understanding of how to discern quality/substantive content. You may be able to guide them in this by setting guidance such as
    1. locate the premier journal(s) in their fields.
    2. Find an article that relates to X aspect of leadership.

I then give my students a 5-5-5 format for sharing with class. (sorry if this sounds like a political tax strategy).

    5 mins to summarize
5 mins to offer reader critique
5 mins for class mate reaction

Can group into small teams if you like.

    Hi Jane.

I've recently published a book chapter on the biology and evolution of leadership with Nigel Nicholson and Mark van Vugt - see attachment. It appeared in Evolutionary Psychology in the Business Sciences edited by Gad Saad. I know there was at least one other chapter that discussed leadership so you may find this book helpful: http://books.google.com/books/about/Evolutionary_Psychology_in_the_Business.html?id=tZCfTU2ns3gC

Finally, I've recently published a couple of papers on the evolutionary biology of leadership (including one appearing in a special issue of The Leadership Quarterly on the biology of leadership), the reference lists may have helpful sources. If I can be of further assistance let me know.

    All the best,
