Faculty Positions in Public Administration, the Dubai School of Government

The Dubai School of Government (DSG) is a research and teaching institution focused on public administration and public policy, which aims to promote good governance by enhancing the Arab world's capacity for effective public policy and management.  Delivery of a one year intensive Executive Master's in Public Administration, a range of Executive Education certification programs, and an active research agenda on policy and management issues of import in the Arab world support this mission. DSG collaborates with a range of regional and international academic institutions and professional associations in its research and teaching endeavors.

The School invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment in the Master of Public Administration program, to begin September 2012 at the latest. We are particularly interested in candidates at the assistant professor level, but will consider associate professor level appointments for qualified candidates. Faculty will be expected to teach a 9-credit load for two semesters a year, contribute to the Executive Education program, and maintain an active research agenda.

Qualifications for appointment include a Ph.D. in Public Administration or other closely related field, demonstrated ability to pursue high quality research and publications, evidence of teaching excellence, and the ability to teach in the MPA curriculum, which includes courses in: public management, policy analysis, comparative politics, human resources management, strategic planning and knowledge management, organizational behavior, performance management, leadership, globalization and governance, and comparative public administration.  In order to fill current teaching needs, preference will be given to holders of PhDs in Public Administration, Political Science, and Political Economy, but other relevant PhDs able to teach in the School's core curriculum are encouraged to apply.  Arab speakers a definite plus but not a requirement for hire.

The School's faculty maintain small class sizes and moderate teaching loads in order to allow faculty the opportunity to conduct and expand their research activities in support of good governance in the region. The School benefits package is highly attractive, with internationally competitive salaries; conference travel support; relocation expenses; annual vacation tickets; and health and dental insurance.

Applicants should send a letter of application specifically addressing the position description and qualifications; curriculum vitae; three letters of recommendation; evidence of teaching effectiveness; a writing sample; and proposed research and teaching plans via email to:

    FacultyRecruitment@dsg.ac.ae

Closing date for review of first-round applicants is April 15, 2012 but applications will continue to be accepted until all positions are filled.  Additional information about DSG activities, faculty interests, and publications can be found on the DSG Website:  http://www.dsg.ae/
