    Dear Colleagues,

As you prepare for classes this fall, I just wanted to send a reminder that my former Ph.D. advisor, Simon Dolan and his co-author Tony Lingham have posted their organizational behavior textbook online for free. The textbook can be accessed at www.IntroToOB.com

    Thank you,

    Chad

    Dear Colleagues,

Earlier today I sent an email about Simon Dolan (ESADE Business School) and Tony Lingham (Case Western Reserve) who have chosen to put their organizational behavior textbook online, for free.   One of our colleagues has stated that the text is somewhat out-of-date.

I just wanted to point out that the text was first written in 2006 and has had additional revisions since then.  If anyone has any feedback or knows of areas where the text needs updates, please contact Simon Dolan (simon.dolan@esade.edu) or myself (chad.albrecht@usu.edu) with the needed changes.  We want to make the textbook as relevant and up-to-date as possible.

To cut down on textbook prices, we are attempting a new model where authors publish their textbooks online for free (including all teaching materials such as test bank, PPT slides, and end-of-chapter materials).  Authors still get royalties (25% royalty rate) from a $20 upgrade service that includes additional features such as virtual team capabilities, text highlighting, note sharing and other educational enhancements. However, the basic text and instructors materials are free (much like a traditional textbook experience).

Feedback from the more than 40 business schools who are currently using the textbook has been extremely positive.  Furthermore, we estimate that Simon and Tony have saved students more than $150,000 over the last year.

    Thanks,

    Chad

    To list members,

I applaud Simon and Tony for their kind gesture.

Their willingness to share their hard work and efforts should only be appreciated, Each reader may use the book whichever way they wish, and take from it whatever is important to them. Regardless, I would not complain about a complimentary contribution.
