Recently I have heard a good deal of discussion about two issues that limit our ability to progress as a field in OBHRM.
One is that it can be difficult at best to publish theory-testing research. Many journals tend to focus first on publishing papers that introduce new theory. Without research designed to test those new theoretical perspectives, we can't very well assess their value.
The other is potential publication bias due to the file drawer problem – the possibility that some good research remains unpublished because of non-significant results.
We at Drake University want to help the scholarly community deal with both problems. Drake Management Review is a new online peer-reviewed journal, published by our College of Business and Public Administration. It could be an outlet for good empirical research in either category: theory-testing studies or others that yielded non-significant results. We believe our fields could benefit substantially from researchers having better access to both types.
Drake Management Review welcomes quality work in OB, HRM, or any of the other business disciplines. For details, please see our Call for Papers. All submissions will be blind reviewed by two members of our board and by our editorial staff. Our first issue went online in Fall 2011, and can be viewed at http://www.cbpa.drake.edu/dmr/home.htm . The second issue will come out in Spring 2012.
We hope you will consider submitting your work to Drake Management Review. Please also pass this invitation along to your students and colleagues in other business disciplines. Feel free to contact me with questions.
Thank you.
