    Assistant or junior-level Associate Professor of Human Resource Management (HRM), Department of Management, College of Business, Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama.  The Department of Management, (Auburn University College of Business) seeks to fill this tenure-track position in HRM for a start date of August 2012. 

    Position Qualifications:  Applicants must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in human resource management, management, industrial/organizational psychology, industrial relations, or business from an accredited institution before the date of employment.  Applicants with 2-4 years' experience at the rank of assistant professor or junior-level associate professor are preferred. 

    Candidates' academic concentration and research programs should be in areas directly related to human resource management such as Compensation, Recruitment and Selection, Training, and Performance Appraisal.  Secondary interests in organizational behavior, organizational change, or strategy are desirable.

    Applicants must provide evidence of teaching competence (e.g., student evaluations) and research excellence (e.g., publications in high quality academic journals that publish human resource management and/or organizational behavior articles). 

    The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the U.S. at the time the appointment begins and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.  Excellent communication skills are required.

    Position Responsibilities:  The successful candidate will teach introductory human resource management and, when available, undergraduate courses in the functional areas of human resource management such as Recruitment and Selection, Employee Compensation and Benefits, or Performance Appraisal and Training.  A course at the graduate level (MBA, Master's, and Ph.D.) might be available depending upon applicant teaching preferences and departmental needs.  In addition, the candidate will serve as advisor or co-advisor of the Auburn University student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).  The specific courses taught and course load is negotiable with the chair of the Management Department.

    The faculty member is expected to maintain a record of consistent publication of articles in premier scholarly journals, demonstrate teaching competence, and provide some departmental, college, or university service.  In addition, participation in the Organization Studies, Strategy, and Change doctoral program is expected.  Participation includes working with doctoral students on research papers, mentoring doctoral students, recruiting doctoral program applicants, and serving on dissertation committees.
