    Dear Colleagues:

We would like to invite you to our Caucus: Is Eastern wisdom compatible with Western scientific epistemology?

Abstract: This caucus session extends the notion of "West meets East" and offers a conversational space to challenge Western biases of the East and its implication on research and practice. Our goal is to examine specifically the underlying assumptions in today's research in terms of the East-West epistemological dialectic and generate innovative ideas on how research and practice can better address these assumptions. Our vision for the caucus is to help foster a model of thinking and learning that enlightens, balances, and transcends both Western and Eastern approaches, just like the taiji circle embracing both yin and yang (Peng, Spencer-Rodgers, & Nian, 2006).
