Kurt -
When I teach Group Communication, I find using movies, or movie clips, often work well.
Two such movies that seem to generate a lot of discussion are "12 Angry Men," starring Henry Fonda and "Gung Ho," starring Michael Keaton. Other faculty have used the TV show, "The Office," as it's more contemporary.
However, I'm not sure what you mean by "effective or ineffective" group communication. That discussion is a good one for your class, as many people define these terms differently, especially depending upon whether they see themselves primarily as more task-oriented or relationship-oriented.

Does anyone have online links to examples of effective or ineffective group communication?
Thanks in advance,
Kurt
