    ~CALL FOR PAPERS~

21st Annual Kravis-de Roulet Leadership Conference
    February 24-25, 2012
    Claremont McKenna College
    Claremont, California

Understanding and Assessing ³Soft² Leader Skills

Call for Papers: This Call for Papers solicits proposals for papers and
panel presentations from researchers and academics, practitioners, and
individuals engaged in the practice and/or research of ³soft skills² and
leadership in various disciplines and fields.
Proposals should consist of approximately 1500 words for individual papers
and 750 word descriptions of proposed panel presentations.

Deadline for Submissions: September 1, 2011

Conference: The Kravis Leadership Institute, at Claremont McKenna College,
is sponsoring a conference to explore current thinking and future directions
in increasing our understanding of the ³soft skills² of leadership. This
conference will explore different models, conceptualizations, and measures
of the ³soft skills² that are so necessary for effective leadership. By
³soft skills² we refer to the interpersonal skills, communication skills,
persuasion skills, political savvy, and emotional abilities used by leaders
to inspire, motivate, and move followers toward the accomplishment of goals.

Goals: The intent of the conference is to bring together to the top scholars
working in this area of leadership for discussion and presentation of theory
and research (Day 1), and to make formal presentations to a larger audience
of leadership scholars, students, and practitioners (Day 2). An
aspirational goal of this conference would be to change the term and
metaphor of ³soft skills.² We will create an edited volume based on the
    conference presentations.
