    Position Summary:

    Develops conducts and communicates research to support Conference Board thought leadership and member value delivery in human capital development/management best practices and market trends in Asia region.

    Reports to the EVP Knowledge Organization (for alignment of the research projects with the overall TCB portfolio as well as quality supervision of the actual work product) and partners closely with the Executive Director for Asia (for day-to-day supervision, member meetings and conferences, and work-product ideation). Partners with the global research leaders in each knowledge area as well as other stakeholders to determine the subject matter and research content of deliverables of maximum value to members and The Conference Board.

    Incumbent is expected to engage deeply with users and peers in the research field to strengthen the track record and reputation of The Conference Board in the specified topic areas. The position requires strong grounding in research techniques and practice, and experience in analysis of human capital, workforce issues and analytics. The position requires demonstrated track record of publications in both academic as well as non-academic outlets. Substantive experience with, and effectiveness in, presenting research findings to business and public audiences is required. The researcher works independently as well as in close cooperation with other research staff. He/she works with Program Directors of member engagement/delivery channels (e.g., conferences, councils and centers), serves as TCB specialist & spokesperson, works closely with and as part of the team to add value and research depth to member offerings, and supports activities to obtain additional funding for parts of the research program.

    Principal Direct Activities

    Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

    1. Serves as a leading authority in the human capital profession on human capital development best practices and trends in Asia and, in particular, workforce planning analytics.
    2. Responsible for authoring own research on these topics, as well as supporting the research of other colleagues, and serving as TCB spokesperson on specified field/topic area and related offerings:
      • Provides input to and facilitates research agenda setting and deliverable definition processes in specified research area.
      • Works collaboratively with global colleagues at The Conference Board, business executives, and academic researchers across the full scope of research responsibilities – from designing data collection instruments in collaborative workgroups, to shaping and growing the global breadth and scope of research in specified field/topic areas.
      • Successfully executes and/or manages multiple research projects against agreed deadlines.
      • Keeps current in subject matter specialty, research methodologies and available information dissemination techniques, so as to be recognized as expert in the specified field/topic area.
      • Serves as expert advisor for The Conference Board presence on specified field/topic area, and works with high-level experts to increase The Conference Board's impact in the broad area of specified field/topic area through expanded research projects, services, offerings, and executive involvement.
      • Working with stakeholders and reports, seeks and obtains underwriting support for The Conference Board research projects as appropriate.
      • Shows leadership through providing guidance and assistance to TCB colleagues in the resolution of research problems, and interacting collaboratively with business executives and academic researchers. Supports overall TCB research agenda and portfolio.
    3. Serves as lead for The Conference Board presence on specified field/topic area, and works with high-level experts to increase The Conference Board's impact in the broad area of specified field/topic area through expanded research projects, services, offerings, communications, and executive involvement. Provides information and high-level briefings to members, policy makers, the press, and general public in specified fields/topic areas as a result of direct contact or requests from TCB Program or Research Directors, as appropriate.
    4. Specific work products will include:
      • The Researcher will create reports (with the appropriate length, format and tone) to address the Human Capital-related challenges faced or foreseen by our member companies in the Asia region. Topics will be vetted through the normal Practice processes, supported by both the EVP, Knowledge and the ED, Asia and brought before the Executive Committee for approval with the rest of the research agenda for the organization. Research insights will be shared with TCB Councils in the Asia region as well with the public via briefings, webcasts and the like.
      • The Researcher will author research deliverables in English for Conference Board members in the Asia region, which includes ASEAN nations, China and India.
      • Researcher will also augment applicable global Human Capital products of the Conference Board with Asian context to enhance the relevance of these products for Asia region members. Researcher should appropriately leverage Conference Board data resources to produce regular products, including: The Total Economy database; The International Labor Comparisons database; The China Human Capital database; The Help Wanted Online database – if/when applicable.
    5. Other duties as assigned.

    Desired Qualifications and Requirements:

    PhD strongly preferred or at least 5 years of post-MSc/MBA/Masters academic research experience in human resources, workforce planning and analytics or related field with 7-10 years directly related work experience (e.g., HC practitioner, business researcher, etc.). In addition, the person should be familiar with the corporate environment and have well developed communication and networking skills. Candidate should have proven structured thinking and strong and effective English writing and speaking skills. Incumbent will be expected to present publicly at conferences, private member briefings and webcasts/webinars.

    Candidate should be creative, intellectually curious, willing to work flexible hours, and have excellent team-work skills.

    Position based in Singapore, relocation is not offered.
