Contract Type/Rank: The department of Management at Central Washington University is seeking applications for a pending tenure-track position at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The appointment is for the Ellensburg campus, beginning September 16, 2011, and is contingent upon funding approval in the 2011-2012 budget.
Responsibilities: Teach upper division human resource management courses to students in business administration and related fields, for example Management of Human Resources, Training and Development, Compensation Policy and Problems in HRM. Additional courses will be assigned depending on area of interest (Organizational Management; Organizational Behavior; or International Management). Faculty are expected to advise students, serve on committees, conduct research, publish in their fields, and interact with the business community.. The College of Business has a strong teaching orientation and requires a commitment to students through teaching and advising.
Qualifications: An earned doctorate in human resources management (or a closely allied discipline) from an AACSB accredited school, relevant teaching experience (in upper division HRM courses), and evidence of ongoing scholarship/research are required. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated excellence in teaching, an established research record, experience with a variety of educational delivery systems (e.g., team-teaching, interactive television, online/internet offerings, multi-sites), and experience with non-traditional students.
The ideal candidate is an experienced instructor (five to eight years of teaching) with a passion for excellence in teaching and working with students in organizations such as the Student Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management. In addition, the ideal candidate is expected to pursue a steady research agenda leading to consistent publications in quality HR and Management journals.
Salary and Benefits: Salary and benefits are competitive with other AACSB accredited universities. Depending on the needs of the department, an opportunity to teach summer classes for additional compensation may also be available. Benefits include paid premiums for medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance as well as retirement contributions. Washington has no state income tax.

Department of Management: The department has 20 full-time faculty members and offers an attractive teaching load with generally small classes and a relaxed teaching environment. A continuing program of research is expected and supported.
