Some colleagues and I are attempting to put together a symposium for the upcoming Academy of Management Conference (submission deadline, Jan. 11) that will focus on contextualizing the linkages of P-O fit to employee or organizational outcomes. Although P-O fit is generally regarded as a positive construct, research and theory suggests complexity along a number of dimensions (e.g., operationalization, time, the presence of moderators, etc.). With this in mind, we are particularly interested in P-O fit research that contributes to a more contextualized or nuanced view of the influence of fit on employee and organizational outcomes, as well as research that challenges the prevailing assumption that more P-O fit is always better.
