    ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP

    SUFFOLK UNIVERSITY

    SAWYER BUSINESS SCHOOL

     

    The Sawyer Business School at Suffolk University seeks faculty candidates who can deliver high quality research and teaching in Entrepreneurship and be an active contributor to our Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. The position requires a completed Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship and the proven ability to maintain a stream of quality research and teaching in this area. The ideal candidate will have a strong practical entrepreneurial background as evidenced by experience related to one or more of the following areas: starting, growing, managing, divesting, reorganizing, recapitalizing, and/or financing, business ventures.

     

    Applicants should have a program of research specifically in Entrepreneurship and have demonstrated the ability to publish in this domain. The position is in the Management and Entrepreneurship Department which has 14 full-time faculty members. Faculty members are encouraged to engage in cross-collaboration within the department and with other departments. In addition, the Research Committee in the Sawyer Business School supports faculty research initiatives with a summer grant program.

     

    The teaching load is five courses per academic year in the undergraduate and graduate programs. The entrepreneurship curriculum, ranked in the Top 25 in 2008, prepares students to launch their own businesses upon graduation. As such, the Entrepreneurship major teaches students to recognize opportunities, identify legal and financial mechanisms to create business ventures that can seize on these opportunities, and create business plans and pitches for seeking funding and launching these ventures. Our graduate program provides students with the opportunity to develop an entrepreneurial thought process through existing organizations.
