    Hi all,

I'm looking for a brief in-class exercise to introduce the topic of conflict and negotiation for my Organizational Behavior course. I would appreciate any descriptions of activities you've found useful and, or, suggestions. I will collate the list of responses for those interested. Thanks in advance.

    Hello Matt

I have tried a few things and have settled for a new position negotiation exercise where the students have to negotiate one as a recruiter the other as a candidate. They negotiate 4 issues salary, location, signing bonus and vacation days. It provides them with the opportunity to learn about different value issue, divergent and convergent issues, as well as integrative vs distributive negotiation.

For conflict I use some clips from a documentary on Metallica called "Some kind of monster" this one helps me bring up different types of conflict in a fun environment.

    Greetings matt,

There are also many experiential exercises in the Journal of Management Education. As well, in doing a google scholar search of "experiential exercise" +teams (or whatever topic is desired), it is possible to find quite a few exercises. In fact, I found the following three outstanding conflict management exercises this way:

    Happy gaming,

    Celeste
