Hi Mariam,
In addition to the great suggestions you have gotten so far, I would suggest looking at action-state orientation (e.g., Diefendorff, Hall, Lord, & Strean, 2000 JAP) for an individual difference that has been clearly tied to the literature on self-regulation. You can also take a look at the literatures on trait self-control (eg Tangney et al 2004, Journal of Personality), conscientiousness, regulatory focus, and goal orientation.
Best regards,
Mike

Mariam,
Try exploring the trait optimism literature (e.g., Scheier, Carver, & Bridges, 1994; Journal of Personality and Social Psychology) regarding self-regulation. You may also find the literatures on self-monitoring and proactive personality to be useful regarding self-awareness and self-motivation.
Best wishes,

Hi all,
I am looking for literature that specifically links personality dispositions
to self-awareness, self-motivation, and self-regulation. Can anybody point
me to some references?
Thank you
Mariam
