Dear Colleagues:
We are completing a meta-analytic review the implicit theories literature to address the question of whether incremental and entity theories differentially predict self-regulatory outcomes and performance within achievement contexts. We would greatly appreciate your help in locating unpublished data to include in our analysis. The following are the inclusion criteria:
(1) Study includes a measurement, manipulation, or prime of implicit theories of ability
(2) Study includes outcome assessments of self-regulatory/self-control outcomes or performance. Using a broad definition and self-control theory, these outcomes are diverse. For example, goal initiation (e.g., learning goals) or affect, cognition, and behavior in the wake of setbacks (e.g., attributions, expectations, helplessness, effort, self-efficacy) are all outcomes of interest. We are also interested in performance outcomes (e.g., GPA).
Articles related to person perception, theories of relationships, or other interpersonal contexts are not included in the present analysis. We are focusing on achievement domains. However, we want to be exhaustive, so please send us any papers or data that you think could possibly meet the above criteria. This includes papers in press, student projects, conference presentations (abstracts, papers, posters), dissertations, unpublished manuscripts, etc. We will cite your work accordingly. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
