Hi Jack,
I invite your consideration of Level Three Leadership 4th ed. 5th edition is at the printers. There's a general, flexible model, consideration of strategic thinking (how can one talk about leadership without asking leadership to what end?), ethical behavior with a six part decision model, multiple discussions about how to influence others, significant portion on understanding why people behave the way they do (self-awareness and influence foundation), sections on organizational design and HR practices that facilitate, and an extensive workbook with self-assessment tools. The book addresses several basic questions:
1. What is leadership (vs. power)?
2. What do we need to know about human behavior to lead others?
3. How does one choose a strategic direction at the societal, organizational, work group, or individual levels?
4. How does one convince others of one's point of view/strategy/direction?
5. How does one organize to facilitate rather than hinder collective efforts?
6. How does one lead change in a rapidly changing world peopled by creatures and organizations of habit?
7. If how you feel affects your performance, how can we manage that relationship?
8. What does it take to be a global leader?
9. How does one make trade-offs between strategy, finance and ethical considerations?

Subject: [OB-LIST] Recommendation for an MBA Management/Leadership Textbook
Hello!
I will be offering a new Management course (in a brand-new MBA program) that is intended to both broadly survey the field of management and to focus a bit more deeply on leadership. The program is designed for people with post-college work experience but not necessarily undergraduate training in Business. It may have students with (undergraduate and graduate) training in a wide array of disciplines.
I would appreciate recommendations for texts that could serve these purposes.
Thanks.
Jack
