Dear colleagues,
We are working on a meta-analysis of the effects of goal setting on group
performance, updating and extending the work by O’Leary-Kelly, Martocchio
& Frink (1994, AMJ). Currently, we are searching for unpublished studies
to avoid a publication bias in our findings.
Specifically, we are looking for any unpublished empirical studies
(conference papers, working papers, master’s theses, dissertations, in-
press papers, etc.) that involve goal interventions in groups/teams, with
group performance as a dependent variable.
Examples of such studies are:
1. Experimental studies (laboratory and field) that employ goal setting
interventions:
- comparing the effects of specific goals vs. ‘do-your-best’ goals on
group performance
- comparing the effects of difficult vs. easy goals on group performance
2. Correlational studies relating self-set group goal difficulty to group
performance
We are interested in studies that include goals set for a group as a
whole, but also in studies that include goals set for individual group
members.
If you have any unpublished work that may be suitable for our meta-
analysis, and are willing to share it with us, please send it to
p.a.m.kleingeld@tue.nl, or as a hard copy to the address below. We will
use any data that you share with us only for the purposes of this meta-
analysis and will cite your work appropriately.
Thank you very much in advance. Your contribution would be most
appreciated.
Best regards,
