We invite you to attend the professional development workshop "Bridging the Divide: Doing Research that Impacts Practice and Building Effective Partnerships" at the Academy of Management conference in San Antonio.
The purpose of the workshop, which will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 11:15 AM – 3:15 PM in the Grand Hyatt, Travis C, will be to:
· Highlight the importance of conducting research that advances practice in management
· Help academics better understand the needs and concerns of practitioners so that researchers can better engage with practitioners and undertake their research in ways that has more direct relevance to practice
· Provide examples and helpful lessons learned that can be used by PDW participants to address the research-practice divide through their own research and/or practice activities
· Identify mechanisms by which academics can pursue work that increases their ability to speak directly to practitioners and organizations
The PDW will involve noted academics and practitioners who are engaged in this general topic in a variety of formats. The session will combine individual presentations by researchers who are recognized as successful scientist-practitioners; moderated panel discussions by practitioners from various organizations as well as directors of Centers; and roundtable breakouts moderated by presenters/panelists.
As the session spans the lunch hour, we will provide a box lunch to all participants. So that we can accurately estimate participation and ordering needs, please register at the link below.
