We are pleased to inform you that the WELCOME II programme is now open with a deadline on the 14th of March 2011.
This Programme is cofunded through the 7th Research Framework Programme of the European Commission, and through the Portuguese state budget, through Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia.
The Programme promotes the mobility of researchers holding the nationalities of a EU Member State or of an Associated Country to FP7, living in any Third Country for at least the last 3 years, to join institutions located in Portugal. Third Countries are countries that are neither Member-States nor Associated Countries to FP7.
The Programme aims to fund three year contracts between Portuguese institutions and 54 researchers with a doctoral degree. Beneficiaries of the Programme will be recognized as Marie Curie Fellows.

In light of the new deadline, the eligibility criteria have been changed as follows:
At the deadline of the call, EU/AC nationals must reside and carry out research work for at least the last 3-years in Third Countries; (researchers are eligible if they have returned to Europe during the period of 9 months (before: 6 months) prior to the call deadline, on the 14th of March 2011, subsequent to the outgoing period of at least 3 years in a Third Country)
This means that researchers already residing in Europe, and that were eligible to apply to the programme on the 1st of October, can still apply to the programme due to the extension of the period of residence in Europe.
