Margaret,
It is a great thing to see someone talk about actually teaching critical thinking! The most I hear is people who claim they do it in their classes, as they do cultural diversity, global issues, ethics, etc.! But I am not so sure about this! I a class I taught long ago as a unversity seminar type of experience, I used a workbook by Vincent Ryan Ruggero, "Critical Thinking." This is a supplement to "Becoming a Master Student," by David Ellis, and published by College Survival, Inc.
I still use some of the materials from this book, even in more advanced classes. There is also a book by Stephen D. Brookfield (1988), "Developing Critical Thinkers: Challenging Adults to Explore Alternative Ways of Thinking and Acting." This is by Jossey-Bass. Also a good source.
Thanks,
Ivan

Subject: [OB-LIST] critical thinking textbooks
Hello all,
I am interested in identifying textbooks for a critical thinking course offered to freshmen business students. The official title is Critical Thinking for Consumer Decision-Making. One of the books I identified is Critical Thinking from the Crisp 50-Minute series. (This series is oriented toward professional development.) Does anyone have experience with this series or this particular book? Any thoughts as to how it might work with college students?
Any experience with Schoenberg's Critical Thinking in Business text?
Thanks for your help!
