    PLEASE PASS TO ALL POTENTIALLY INTERESTED PARTIES


    The OBTS Teaching Society for Management Educators, in cooperation with the
    Eastern Academy of Management, is offering a ³Teaching Boot Camp² for
    doctoral students, new instructors, and faculty who want a to polish their
    teaching skills. The Boot Camp will be offered as a workshop that is a
    preconference to the Eastern Academy of Management¹s annual meeting. It will
    occur on Wednesday afternoon May 12, 1-6 p.m. Four major topic areas will be
    covered in the workshop:

    € Basic principles of how people learn
    € Fundamental elements of teaching‹designing a course, preparing a
    syllabus, designing elements to measure learning.
    € Conducting an effective classroom: teaching techniques (lecture, role play
    and case), and classroom management issues
    € Coping with classroom challenges to avoid disasters: understanding
    important choices and tradeoffs to assure successful performance

    The workshop will be highly interactive, and will be facilitated by
    experienced, award-winning faculty who are members of the Organizational
    Behavior Teaching Society. There will be an enrollment fee of $55 for the
    workshop, pre-registration is required. This Workshop Fee covers: workshop
    handouts, a CD containing many articles on effective teaching techniques,
    and a one year membership to the OBTS Teaching Society for Management
    Educators. Registrants will also be required to register for the Eastern
    Academy of Management.
