    Kevin,
Columbia University, Teachers College has an excellent Ph.D. program in
Organizational Psychology run by W. Warner Burke. I would highly recommend it for change management.

  • 7.  PhD in Change Management or PhD program with significant leading change component

    Hi, Kevin

I believe different change-related programs will satisfy different sets of aspirations...  If your student is bound for a strictly academic path, I would assess his/her ambitions about immersing in a well-known management research program with a change component and dissertation topic, no matter what is the final PhD title.  A number of OB, Org Psych, or general-management programs can accommodate...

If practice-based change innovation or scholar-practitioner inquiry is their desire, there are a few fine Org Development and Change doctoral programs (Fielding, Benedictine, Case Western, etc.) that will give them a great platform for exploration and can directly and holistically address change leadership for the duration of the studies.  Fielding is also particularly useful and empowering when it comes to customizing your program and drawing from interdisciplinary literature and a wider spectrum of diverse faculty.  However, the more flexibility one has in designing their program, the more self-directed their study will become.  Not all students will do well in a self-directed environment.

    Hope it helps,
    Andre
