CALL FOR PAPERS
Journal of Organizational Behavior - IRIOP Annual Review Issue
Edited by Gerard P. Hodgkinson and J. Kevin Ford
Submission Deadline: May 1st 2012
BACKGROUND OF IRIOP ANNUAL REVIEW ISSUE
The Journal of Organizational Behavior is delighted to announce that from 2013 the International Review of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (IRIOP) will be published as an annual review issue of JOB. Founded in 1986 by Cary L. Cooper and Ivan T. Robertson IRIOP has attracted contributions from some of the world's leading researchers, who have offered comprehensive, state of the art reviews covering the entire spectrum of topics in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and Organizational Behavior. In moving the series into JOB, we aim to strengthen the IRIOP tradition of publishing comprehensive and authoritative reviews, by subjecting manuscripts to the full rigors of the JOB double-blind peer review process, thereby ensuring that the IRIOP Annual Review Issue remains the most authoritative and current guide to accumulated knowledge, and new developments at the frontiers of the field.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Articles are now invited for possible publication within the IRIOP Annual Review Issue of JOB. We welcome conceptual reviews of the scientific literature that make a contribution to our understanding of the topic of interest and provide directions for theory development, methodological advances, and/or for future empirical research. Such reviews should summarize the current state of knowledge pertaining to the focal topic, and highlight significant gaps that require the development of new theory, research methods and/or new empirical contributions.
Gerard P. Hodgkinson and J. Kevin Ford have been retained as editors of the IRIOP issue, and prospective contributors are encouraged to submit proposals for review articles to them via the JOB submission system at Manuscript Central. Potential contributors must clearly indicate that their manuscripts are to be considered for JOB's IRIOP Annual Review Issue. Proposed articles will undergo formal peer review through a two-stage double-blind process.
SUBMISSIONS PROCEDURE
1. Submit a proposal document electronically to the IRIOP Annual Review Issue editors at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/job, by May 1st 2012. The proposal document must have a cover page, incorporating a proposed title, author names and affiliations, and contact information. The following pages should begin by repeating the title of the proposed article, and provide an extended abstract of the proposed review. The proposed review description is to be between 3 and 5 pages double spaced, 12 point font (Times New Roman). The proposal document should conclude with a one to two page bibliography, containing the key references that will form the basis of the article.
2. The proposal will be reviewed by at least two anonymous reviewers who are blind to the identity of the potential authors. The reviews will then be handled by one of the series editors and a decision sent to the first author as to whether the proposal (1) can proceed to a full blown article; (2) must be revised substantially to be considered; or (3) must be rejected as not appropriate for the journal.
3. Once the contributors have been informed that their proposal has been accepted to be turned into a full length paper for further consideration, a strict timeline for completion of the article will be given by the series editors. Articles not completed within the agreed timeframe will be rejected.
4. Full length manuscripts should not be submitted unless invited following a favorable editorial decision based on a previously submitted proposal document. Such uninvited full length manuscripts will be desk rejected by the editors.
5. As with initial proposal documents, revised manuscripts must be submitted electronically at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/job. To be considered for publication, the article must be prepared according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (2009, 6th edition). Articles invited for revision are to be no more than 40 double spaced pages (10,000 words) including the title page, abstract, references, tables and/or figures. As with initial proposals, full-length manuscripts should be word processed, using Times New Roman, 12 point font, with 1 inch margins surrounding each page of text.
5. All manuscripts will be evaluated primarily on the basis of their originality and significance for advancing understanding of human behavior in organizations. Other important considerations include the length-contribution ratio, and the quality of written expression. Poor quality writing is sufficient grounds for outright rejection.
6. All submissions must comprise original material not under consideration by any other journal or outlet. Authors are responsible for obtaining written permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources.
Potential contributors can contact the IRIOP Annual Review Issue Editors to discuss their ideas for a paper prior to submitting a formal proposal at at Gerard.Hodgkinson@wbs.ac.uk and fordjk@msu.edu . Please direct any questions about the submission process or any other administrative issue to the JOB Editorial Office: JOBeditorialoffice@wiley.com
