I know the SDT literature pretty well and I don't think anything like this has been done. There are however, some research on self-regulation and SDT (e.g., Gollwitzer's theory, Baumeister's self-control strenght theory, goal setting theory [under the rubric of self-concordance]). You can check some of this work on www.selfdeterminationtheory.org. It's not a complete list of publications, but it's a good representation. I was wondering if there is any work integrating Deci and Ryan's self-determination theory with control theories of motivation, such as Carver and Scheier's or Jeff Vancouver's. One thing I'm interested in is how the control theory explanation of self-regulation accounts for the favorable effects of autonomous motivation. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
