PDW at AOM: Pedagogical Insights for Teaching Teamwork
Program Session #: 38 | Submission: 14281 | Sponsor(s): (TTC)
Scheduled: Friday, Aug 9 2013 8:00AM - 10:30AM at WDW Coronado Springs Resort in El Paso 1&2
Abstract:
This Professional Development Workshop will explore teaching teamwork skills. Participants will have the opportunity to both hear from and interact with a diverse group of facilitators who have been teaching teamwork skills to undergraduate, graduate and executive-level students. A series of brief presentations will focus on a number of different aspects of teamwork instruction ranging from: assigning students to teams, managing those team projects, using video and case studies to demonstrate team behaviors, and leveraging an out-of-class activity to demonstrate how to work as a part of a virtual team. Following these presentations, participants will have the opportunity to interact with presenters in round table discussions where pedagogical issues can be further explored. Our goal is to use the PDW to start the conversation on teaching teamwork skills and to hopefully facilitate learning that will continue beyond this session.
