Hello again OB Listers!
I am in the midst of working on a study related to forgiveness. Thank you all for your responses to my last email about experimental induced-violation paradigms. I was hoping I could once again tap your collective knowledge! :)
There appears to be a vast literature about the forgiver, but considerably less on the effects of forgiveness/being forgiven on the transgressor.
So far, I have identified a limited number of studies that examine the effects (behavioural, cognitive and/or affective) of interpersonal forgiveness on the transgressor:
Struthers, Eaton, Shirvani, Georghiou & Edell, 2008 (BASP)
Wallace, Exline & Baumeister, 2008 (JESP)
Feeney & Hill, 2006 (JSPR)
Hoyt, Fincham, McCullough, Maio & Davila, 2005 (JPSP)
Snook, 2005 (unpublished thesis)
Kelln & Ellard, 1999 (PSPB)
If any of you are familiar with other cross-sectional, field, clinical or experimental studies that focus on the effects of interpersonal forgiveness on the transgressor (i.e. the recipient of forgiveness), I would be grateful to hear about them. I am confident there is a great deal of work that I have missed!
All the best,
Lukas
