    OB RESEARCH AND THEORY

    SURFACING PROBLEMS AND PROPOSING SOLUTIONS

     Abstract

We invite Academy members to participate in this critical self-reflection in OB aimed at identifying and addressing issues of concern to scholars and the field. The intent of this PDW is to move beyond simple discussion to creative action. The workshop will begin with a panel of invited scholars who will engage the dialogue by surfacing concerns about the field and identifying specific action steps they believe will help address the issues they raise. Invited scholars will then work with attendees in breakout sessions to develop an agenda for action. Each breakout group will be tasked with developing two specific action steps that, if taken, would advance the field. At the end of the roundtable discussion, a plenary session will be reconvened in which the invited scholars summarize the action steps at their tables and talk about ways these steps could be implemented in the Academy. Participants will leave the workshop with a clearer understanding of a path for constructive change and ongoing renewal in the field of OB. After the session, information generated in the discussion will be shared with the participants, and PDW organizers will take responsibility for following through on actionable items (where feasible).
