HEADING: Invitation to AoM Intuition Caucus - Monday, August 10, 2009, 3:00-4:30pm

    Dear colleagues,

If you are interested in the topic of intuition and plan to attend the Academy of Management Meeting in Chicago, we would like to invite you to the caucus on "Intuition in Organizations" that will be held on Monday, August 10, 2009, from 3:00-4:30pm at the Hyatt Regency (Skyway 281). Even if you cannot make it to Chicago, let us know whether you would like to be included in our mailing list.

The purpose of this AoM caucus is to bring together the community of researchers interested in intuition in three ways: (1) by forming an electronic forum in the form of a listserv and/or a website, (2) by exploring the possibility of creating a formal AoM interest group, and (3) by starting a discussion about some of the following topics that we identified in consultation with other colleagues:

    1.        Intuition measurement
    2.        Methodologies to study intuition
    3.        Relationship between intuitive and rational processes
    4.        Relationship between the cognitive and the affective elements of intuition
    5.        Relationship between intuition and tacit knowledge/implicit learning
    6.        Types of intuition
    7.        Expert and entrepreneurial intuition
    8.        Physiological and neurological correlates of intuition
    9.        Intuition in healthcare management
    10.        Intuition in management education
    11.        Dual vs. unitary perspective on intuition
    12.        Intuition/analysis in relation to personality and leadership styles
    13.        Cognitive style and analysis
    14.        Neuroscience of intuition
    15.        Non-local intuition
    16.        Scope of intuition
    17.        Intuition for experts vs. novices

If you would like to participate in the caucus, please let us know via e-mail at m.sinclair@griffith.edu.au, preferably by JUNE 15.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Dr. Jean-Francois Coget and Dr. Marta Sinclair
