    Dear <st1:place w:st="on">OB</st1:place> listserve members:

I have been looking for the source article for the General Leader Impression (GLI) Instrument.  Thanks to Dan Chiaburu for locating the following:

Cronshaw & Lord (1987), "Effects of Categorization, Attribution, and Encoding Processes on Leadership Perceptions," Journal of Applied Psychology.

Does anybody know of a reference that is older than that?

Note that other authors have cited the source as Lord, Foti & DeVader (1984), "A test of leadership categorization theory: Internal structure, information processing, and leadership perceptions,"

Organizational Behavior and Human Performance; however, I reviewed a copy of the OBHP article, and it does not appear to reference or use the GLI.

    Thanks very much,

    Aimee <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Hamilton</st1:place></st1:city>

    Aimee,

The Cronshaw & Lord (1987) cite is correct for the GLI measure.
