    Dear OB Colleagues,

This might be of interest to you:

Social Issues in Management Research Incubator

Organizers: Andrew Crane, York U. Michael E. Brown, Pennsylvania State-Erie U.

    Time/Location: Saturday, Aug 2 2014, 2:15PM - 4:15PM, Loews Philadelphia Hotel in Regency Ballroom C1

Deadline for submitting proposals: Extended to June 16th

The SIM Research Incubator provides an opportunity to meet, discuss and get feedback on potential ideas for research projects in the ethics and social issues in management fields. We have identified 10 hot research topics. We invite you to submit your ideas (1-2 pages maximum) for possible research projects in one of these areas. We will then select up to 5 participants for each topic to participate in the workshop.  During the incubator, established scholars will lead breakout groups for each topic.  Topic leaders will highlight some of the new developments in their areas and invite participants to provide feedback on each of the ideas that were submitted. The goal is to have participants exchange ideas and identify possible collaborations with others.  The incubator will conclude with a brief plenary summarizing the best new ideas or exciting opportunities for new research from each topic area.

The ten research topics and topic leaders are:

    1.       Business and poverty: Ana-Maria Peredo, University of Victoria

    2.       Communication and CSR: Mette Morsing, Copenhagen Business School

    3.       Contingency approaches to the business case for CSR: Mike Barnett, Rutgers University

    4.       Developing stakeholder theory: Robert Phillips, University of Richmond

    5.       Ethical leadership: Linda Trevino, Pennsylvania State University

    6.       Institutional theory and social change: Charlene Zeitsma, York University

    7.       Moral intuition and ethical decision making: Gary Weaver, University of Delaware

    8.       New directions in CSR research: Jean-Pascal Gond, City University

    9.       Quantitative analysis of social issues in management: Irene Henriques, York University

    10.   Researching ethical work climates: Anke Arnaud, Embry Riddle Aeronautical U.

To maximize the quality of the sessions, we will only accept a maximum of 5 participants for each topic, so be sure to send us your best new ideas. 1-2 page proposals, specifying your preferred topic area, should be sent to the organizers at CSR@schulich.yorku.ca by June 16th, 2014. Multiple submissions are encouraged but only one proposal per participant will be accepted in the workshop. We will send acceptances by July 9, 2014.

    Thanks,

    Mike
