    Below please see the call for the OB Junior Faculty Workshop in Chicago.

    Junior Faculty Workshop (August 7 - 8)

    2009 Academy of Management Meetings

     

    The OB Junior Faculty Workshop will provide you with feedback on your research from individuals with lots of reviewing and editorial experience. Learn how to be an effective teacher and mentor. Gain insight into how to balance different career demands and how to survive the tenure process. The OB Junior faculty addresses these issues and more. You will be able to share experiences with people like you at different schools.

     

    The Organizational Behavior Division would like to invite junior faculty members to attend the 2009 OB Junior Faculty Workshop – part of the 2009 Academy of Management meeting in Chicago. It will begin with dinner the evening of August 7 and will end on the afternoon of August 8.

     

    The workshop will include presentations by a diverse range of invited faculty fellows, as well as small group research discussions. Topics addressed will include Conducting Interesting and High Impact Research/Publishing, Having Impact as a Teacher and Mentor, and Surviving the Tenure Process while balancing work and family. The program also provides a unique opportunity to gain research feedback on your own scholarly work. For 2009, the following scholars will participate as faculty fellows: Max Bazerman, Robin Ely, Katherine Klein, Brad Kirkman, Don Moore, Katherine Phillips, Madan Pillutla, Anat Rafaeli, Maria Rotundo, Kathleen Sutcliffe, Amy Wrzesniewski, and Jing Zhou.

     

    To register for this workshop you must be a member of the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy as of May 2009. The workshop is most useful for participants who have completed at least one year in a faculty position, and you must have completed your PhD within the last five years. In your registration materials, please include the following: 

     

    • Full contact information
    • A current curriculum vitae
    • A 2-3 page (double spaced) summary of a working paper or project in progress. This will be forwarded to relevant Workshop Faculty Fellows, as well as to other participants who share your interests.
    • Nominate two topics/areas of interest as we will use this to match you with at least one of our Faculty Fellows. One of the topics should reflect your working paper/project in progress.
    • A registration fee of $75.00 U.S. dollars to partially defray meal costs, payable by check or credit card, to the Academy of Management.
