David Waldman will be facilitating a research roundtable at the Academy Meetings on Saturday afternoon. The research roundtable pertains to how OB theoretical areas can be linked to the interests of SIM members.  David Day, Craig Pearce, Janet Dukerich, and Glen Kreiner will be panelists.

The objective of the Research Roundtable is to bring scholars from the SIM and OB Divisions into contact to explore emerging trends and themes that might be of relevance for future research in the two fields.  We have invited researchers who have recently made significant contributions to their areas of inquiry, often joining theoretical approaches not previously juxtaposed.  Thus, the strength of the invited authors lies in their creativity of opening the SIM and OB research to theories and topics that may have not been on the radar screen so far, whether ignored, under-examined, or emergent.  Each invited scholar will facilitate one table, making a short introductory statement, outlining his or her view of future or emerging research approaches and how OB theories and research might provide insights and synergy for topics relevant to SIM researchers.  They will then facilitate the discussion afterwards.  No pre-registration required. Further information will be provided through the SIM & OB listservs in the Spring 2009.  The scholars will facilitate discussion relevant to theory and research pertaining especially to the following theoretical areas within OB: (1) leadership [David Day, University of Western Australia; Craig Pearce, Claremont Graduate University], and (2) social identification [Janet Dukerich, University of Texas at Austin; Glen Kreiner, Penn State University].  Possible topics that will be juxtaposed with these areas include ethical practices, organizational responsibility, environmental issues (e.g., global warming), among others.
