  • 1.  Tenure-Track Position in OB/HR

    An apology for Cross-Posting; but California State University, San Bernardino has re-opened our search for a Tenure-Track Position in Organizational Behavior with a specialty in Human Resources with an anticipated start date of Fall, 2014.  Rank is open.


    Preferred candidates will be expected to meet the traditional requirements of excellence in teaching, active scholarly and professional work, and service to the University and community.  In addition, new faculty are encouraged to develop and participate in activities that support the University's and the College of Business and Public Administration's strategic plan. The strategic plan emphasizes five (5) areas: a) teaching and learning; b) excellence in research and creative activities; c) campus community; d) community engagement; e) infrastructure. Finally, candidates with interest and/or experience in working with the student chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) as well as engagement in the design and implementation of the HR/OB curriculum are desired


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    By the appointment date, candidates for this full-time position should possess an earned doctorate in Organizational Behavior or a closely-related field with coursework and publications in organizational behavior and a secondary specialization in Human Resources. Desirable candidates have demonstrated teaching excellence and evidence of publication record in Organizational Behavior/Human Resources or strong development of a promising stream of research.  Ability to teach communications concepts is also a plus. It is also expected that the person filling this position will play an active role in maintaining and developing student engagement in the HR/OB curriculum, advisement of students in the management/human resources concentration, and serving on department, college and university-wide committees.

    The Department of Management at Rider University is seeking candidates for a tenure-track position in the area of Organizational Behavior/Human Resource Management at the Assistant Professor level starting September 2015.

     

    Candidates should hold a Ph.D. or D.B.A. in OB/HR (or a closely related field) by September 2015.  The candidate must show strong potential in teaching as well as research skills consistent with AACSB standards.  He/she will teach undergraduate courses such as introduction to management, human resource management, leadership, career management, and workforce diversity as well as OB/HR courses in the MBA and Executive MBA programs.  Preference would be given to those who can teach in both the OB and HR areas.  The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to effective teaching, research, and interacting with students of all levels. 

     

    The 10 month work year has a standard teaching load of 3 fall/3 spring classes, with 13-week semesters. Summer teaching opportunities are available on the Rider campus. Tenure-track faculty members are expected to conduct research leading to publications in quality refereed journals, and participate in department, school, and university service activities. Summer research fellowships and other research funding are available.

     

    Rider University is a private, AACSB-accredited, coeducational university located near Princeton, NJ, and within easy driving distance or train ride to New York City and Philadelphia. Rider is ranked in the top tier of northern regional universities by US News and World Report and was named by The Princeton Review as one of the "Best 376 Colleges" in the nation for 2014. The Department of Management currently consists of 11 faculty members with diverse teaching and research interests.

    POSITION:  Faculty member of the Management programs: One tenure-track position, rank open depending upon expertise and experience, with possibility of credit toward tenure.
                                                                                                
    STARTING DATE:  September, 2015. 
     
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. or equivalent in Leadership and Organizational Behavior or a closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education.  Experience and expertise in leadership and ability to teach in a related field, e.g. corporate social responsibility, general management, or human resource management.  Candidates should provide record of or potential for scholarly activity, and effective teaching using a variety of methodologies. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in oral and written communication, and an ability or interest in teaching in a multicultural, multiethnic environment. 
     
    DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  The best applicant will have a secondary area of teaching and scholarly interest that complements the current faculty.  Areas of need include one or more of the following:  corporate social responsibility, management, entrepreneurship, or health care management. 
     
    DUTIES:  In addition to teaching, duties include engaging in scholarly activity, curriculum and program management, student advisement, and committee service for the Department, the College, and the University.
