Subject: Applying third-party coding to secondary data sources
My apologies in advance for cross-posting.
As part of my dissertation, I am using a secondary data source that identifies what types of unethical behaviors individuals have observed on their job. However, what this data set doesn't include is people's opinions about how severe of ethical violations those behaviors represent. To address this I am running a supplemental data collection effort that will ask a different sample of individuals to rate those behaviors on severity.
I am looking for references to studies in which third-party coding efforts like this were applied to secondary data sources. Any guidance from the community would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
