    Dear All,

I am working on "perceived organizational injustice" and different types of Negative emotions generated in response to different work conditons. If anyone can recommend me the influential book/articles regarding " Negative emotions at work".

    Thanks and Best Regards,

You might take a look at the Emotional Reactions Inventory (ERI) that Mike Driver and Ken Brousseau developed.  It assesses both positive (e.g., joy) and negative (e.g., anger) emotions.  Mike, now deceased, was a Professor at USC; Ken is President of Organizational Dynamics in Los Angeles.  Hope this helps.

    Hi Abdul,

At the risk of self-promoting, we have just published a chapter that deals
with justice and emotions. I think it might be helpful for you as a starting
point and will provide you with plenty of references. An additional review
can be found at a recent meta-analysis.

    Cohen-Charash, Y., & Byrne, Z. S. (2008). Affect and justice: current
knowledge and future directions. In N. M. Ashkanasy & C. L. Cooper (Eds.),
Research Companion to Emotion in Organizations (pp. 360-391): Edward Elgar
    Publishers.

    Barsky, A., & Kaplan, S. A. (2007). If you feel bad, it's unfair: A
quantitative synthesis of affect and organizational justice perceptions.

    Good luck,

    Hi Abdul,

I would recommend Weiss & Cropanzano (1996) which has been cited over 200 times. The fundamental premise is that the impact of work events on subsequent employee attitudes and behaviors is mediated through affective reactions. In addition, Barsade & Gibson (2007) is a quick review of current knowledge regarding affect in organizations. Finally, Lord & Klimoski (2002) is an edited volume you might find useful. Hope this helps.

Those who are interested in the study of emotions in organizational settings should consider joining the Emonet-L Listserv (http://www.uq.edu.au/emonet). The list can be joined via the Academy's Listserv site (http://aomlists.pace.edu/archives/index.html) or by e-mailing me direct (n.ashkanasy@uq.edu.au). The Emonet-L Listserv already has 1000 subscribers, comprising the majority of scholars working in the field. The Emonet group also organizes a biannual conference - the next one will be in Montreal just prior to the Academy conference in August, 2010. The group also publishes a book series, "Research on Emotions in Organizations" under the JAI Press Imprint (currently published by the Emerald Group: http://info.emeraldinsight.com/products/books/series.htm?PHPSESSID=71e0c7pivlrhises3e1tff9qj5&id=1746-9791). Volumes and chapters are currently accessible at http://www.science-direct.com/science/bookseries/17469791.

Here is a list of volumes in the series so far:

Volume 1, 2005 (Elsevier): "The effect of affect in organizations"
Volume 2, 2006 (Elsevier): "Individual and Organizational Perspectives on Emotion Management and Display"
Volume 3, 2007 (Elsevier): "Functionality, Intentionality, and Morality"
Volume 4, 2008 (Emerald): "Emotion in Ethics and Decision-Making"
Volume 5, forthcoming 2009 (Emerald): "Emotion in Groups, Organizations, and Cultures"
Volume 6, forthcoming 2010 (Emerald): "Emotions and Creativity, Learning, Change and Development"
