The Department of Psychology at Hofstra University invites applications
for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or
Associate Professor level beginning September, 2008.. The position is
primarily for the Ph.D. Program in Applied Organizational Psychology and
the M.A. Program in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, although some
undergraduate teaching is available as well. Our Ph.D. program places a
strong emphasis on research methods and statistics as well as topics
relating to human behavior in organizations. The M.A. program is an
applied program that prepares students for careers in such areas as
human resources, training and development, management and organization
development, and market research.
The successful applicant will have completed a Ph.D. in
Industrial/Organizational Psychology or a related area and will
demonstrate a strong record of accomplishment in research, teaching, and
grant or contract activity, commensurate with rank. ABDs will be
considered, with the strong expectation that they will have defended
their dissertation by the time of appointment. Practical experience
working with organizations is desirable, but not required. Applicants
for the position should have strong expertise in research methods and
statistics and one or more specialty areas of I/O Psychology.
In addition to graduate and possibly undergraduate teaching in I/O
areas, the position requires the development of a research program and
supervision of doctoral student research. We are looking for an
energetic person who will make significant contributions to strengthen
our already well-regarded M.A. program and help us bring our young Ph.D.
program to national visibility.
