If you know of any rising juniors or seniors seeking an excellent and unique week-long summer research opportunity,  please encourage them to apply to be an  Organizational Science Summer Fellow at the Inaugural Organizational Science Summer Institute.  There are only 10 slots available in this competitive summer program..  The website is ">http://www.ossi.uncc.edu">www.ossi.uncc.edu.  Please contact me at sdlong@uncc.edu for an e-flyer and recent publications profiling the Organizational Sceince Summer Institute and the Organizational Science Doctoral Program.

Thank you for the opportunity to share more about the inaugural Organizational Science Summer Institute (OSSI), May 17-22, 2009 hosted by the Organizational Science Doctoral Program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the beautiful and dynamic city of Charlotte, North Carolina..

The Organizational Science Doctoral Program at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is currently seeking outstanding students to become the next generation of organizational scientists. Our Organizational Science Doctoral Program ">http://orgscience.uncc.edu/">http://orgscience.uncc.edu is an interdisciplinary field of inquiry focusing on employee and organizational health, well-being and effeciveness.  As the demographic landscape dramtically changes, it is important that all populations have a voice and are represented in the research, study, and advancement of this important field of organizational study.  As an interdisciplinary program (we are actually moving toward transdisciplinary), we approach the study of organizations from a variety of paths and spans disciplines including: business, communication studies, psychology, and sociology.  The primary focus of this institute is to assist in the development of these rising stars.  Our selected participants will be called Organizational Science Summer Fellows!

Our fellows are from traditionally underrepresented populations who desire to pursue an advanced degree, hopefully the Ph.D. The institute is a highly competitive program that will only select 10 fellows during the inaugural year as to give deep and concentrated focus on graduate work, research in interdisciplinary/sole disciplinary areas, intense GRE preparation, and opportunities to network with local and national scholars and other like-minded fellows for a week, as well as establish a long-lasting relationship with a doctoral faculty and student mentor at UNC Charlotte.  We are excited about the development of this institute and what better institution to get involved the inaugural year than your institution!   It would be our pleasure to  to host your students for a week during the summer.

As a fellow, we would cover all their expenses including travel, lodging, food, etc.  Additionally, we will provide them will a stipend for their efforts and time.  It will be an intense, yet fun, week of learning and fellowship.  But our goal is to work, engage, and learn for five days.  Our website and application information can be located at  ">http://www.ossi.uncc.edu/">www.ossi.uncc.edu

The application deadline is November 21, 2008 and we will notify the accepted fellows by December 10, 2008.  Please contact Shawn D. Long directly at sdlong@uncc.edu or 704-687-3900 if you have further questions.
