    The Patricia and J. Douglas Perry Chair and

    Multiple Tenure Track Positions

     

    The College of Science, at Old Dominion University, is undergoing a major expansion of its research and educational base.  At this time, the Department of Psychology is inviting applications for multiple tenure track faculty positions including the Patricia and J.  Douglas Perry Chair. This faculty position and its research activities are supported by a state salary line and the Perry Chair endowment.  Candidates for the Perry Chair are expected to have an outstanding research program, evidenced by publications, an established record of continuous peer reviewed research funding, and proven ability in teaching and mentoring students and junior colleagues.  Also, it is expected that these candidates will contribute through synergy across two or more of the Department's doctoral research programs including Applied Experimental Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Human Factors Psychology and Industrial/Organizational Psychology.

     

    The Department is also inviting applications for multiple tenure track faculty positions, at all tracks, in Industrial/Organizational (with a Personnel emphasis), Clinical, Health Psychology, and Human Factors. Candidates for professor or associate professor must show evidence of a strong research program as evidenced by publications and peer reviewed research support and demonstrate a strong teaching record. Candidates at the assistant professor level must demonstrate exceptional promise in building a strong research program and perform high quality teaching. For these positions, competitive salary packages are available.

     

    Interested candidates should submit curriculum vitae, a statement of research accomplishments and future research plans, a statement of teaching philosophy, and three letters of reference. Candidates for the Perry Chair should also submit a brief statement on how they will contribute to synergy across two or more of the Department's doctoral programs listed above.     Applications will be reviewed until the positions are filled and applicants should specify the position for which they are applying. The Psychology Department currently includes 24 faculty members and offers four doctoral programs and a terminal M.S. degree in Experimental Psychology and has approximately 113 graduate students and 700 undergraduate majors.  The Department is supported by peer review grants from the National Science Foundation, Office of Naval Research, NASA, U.S. Public Health Services, and the Virginia Department of Health.
