I'm interested in finding out if anyone has used the Simulearn vLeader simulation in their OB or related courses, what your experiences have been, and what suggestions you have for using it and assessing its utility.

Yes, I used it at Rutgers last semester in an MBA leadership course. The
students weren't at all sure about it at first. But in the end thought it
was a tremendously valuable experience. It was nerve wracking because I
went through the webcasts just a couple of weeks ahead of them, and was sure
I wouldn't be able to facilitate the weekly sessions, but found that as soon
as the students got into it, they pretty much took over the weekly sessions
    assisting each other.

Great product (no affiliation, and nothing to gain from promoting it)
particularly for MBA students - I would want to use the smaller version for
UGs. Graham is a great resource...

    Good luck!

    Louis,

I have done the Simulearn vLeader training and would consider using it for a Leadership course.

There is a bit of a learning curve and students can get frustrated, particularly when what they are doing doesn't work.

But I think it has value in exercising skills and reinforcing Leadership theory.

As a simulation builder myself (but with no connection to the company), one thing I like about the vLeader simulation is that they can articulate the theory behind the simulation.  That way you know what theory is represented by the interactions.

And their support is great, too!

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    Roxanne

I am preparing (in connection with my diploma thesis) to do some research
with vLeader leadership simulation. It would be great if you could support
me in gathering information about vLeader.

Of particular importance would be the following questions:

-Has anybody more detailled information about the research related to
vLeader (beyond the information which is given on the internet page)?
Especially about the research design, collected variables, significant
    results,…

-Who uses vleader at the moment? Which experiences did you gain?

Any support in gathering information will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much by now!

    Hi Sarah H.

A colleague and I are currently conducting a study with the vLeader leadership simulation in an undergraduate leadership class. Three class are using the simulation and one class is being conducted without the use of the simulation. We administered the GEMA-360 leadership assessment to all students prior to starting the class. Among other things, we plan on conducting a factor analysis of the instrument and looking for changes in student's leadership profiles at the end of the course.

Please feel free to contact me directly.
