    Janicke,

I work with a software called MAXQDA to analyze qualitative data. The
software's website (www.maxqda.com) provides a lot of information about the
program, how to use it and many examples - even references, FAQ and an
    online forum.

For techniques and examples how to analyze qualitative data you might refer
    to:
    - Miles, M. B. & Huberman, A. M. 1994. Qualitative Data Analysis: An
Expanded Sourcebook. Thousand Oaks, London, New Delhi: Sage Publications
    Inc.
    - Corbin, J. M. & Strauss, A. L. 2008. Basics of Qualitative Research:
Techniques and Procedures for Developing Grounded Theory (3 ed.). Los
    Angeles et al.: Sage Pub.
    - Strauss, A. L. & Corbin, J. M. 1998. Basics of qualitative research:
techniques and procedures for developing grounded theory (2nd ed.). Thousand
Oaks, London, New Delhi: Sage Publications Inc.
    - Lewins, A. & Silver, C. 2007. Using Software in Qualitative Research: A
Step-by-Step Guide. Los Angeles et al.: Sage Pub.

as a ground to start from.

There are some very good blueprints in top-tier journals like AMJ, Human
    Relations and ASQ, e.g.:
    - Zott, C. & Huy, Q. N. 2007. How Entrepreneurs Use Symbolic Management to
Acquire Resources. Administrative Science Quarterly, 52(1): 70-105.
    - Isabella, L. A. 1990. Evolving interpretations as a change unfolds: How
managers construe key organizational events. Academy of Management Journal,
    33(1): 7-41.
    - Eisenhardt, K. M. & Bourgeois, L. J. 1988. Politics of strategic decision
making in high-velocity environments: Toward a midrange theory. Academy of
    Management Journal, 31(4): 737-770.

not all of these papers explicitly refer to a particular software, but they
provide brilliant examples how to analyse qualitative data.

    All the best,
    Stefan

One of my Accounting colleagues, Janicke Rasmussen, likes to ask for help
from the OB community on the following. She is doing her Ph.D. research
within the field of corporate governance, on board-of-directors evaluation,
and interviewing board members of large listed companies in Norway using
    open-ended questions.
She'd would like to get in contact with researchers who might share their
experience in analyzing taped interview data, notably with reference to
useful software programs, relevant websites and/or user groups, and
doctorate-level courses in qualitative data analysis (preferably in Europe).
Please copy her directly into your response, using Janicke.Rasmussen@bi.no
Thanks in advance for your help!
