The <st2:placetype w:st="on">University</st2:placetype> of <st2:placename w:st="on">Twente</st2:placename> is an entrepreneurial research university, located in Enschede, the <st2:country-region w:st="on"><st2:place w:st="on">Netherlands</st2:place></st2:country-region>. Distributed over 5 faculties, the UT offers 20 educational programmes ranging from applied physics and public administration to communication studies and biomedical technology.
Research takes place within the context of institutes and focuses, among other things, on nanotechnology, information and communication technology, biomedical technology, policy studies, human behaviour, and mechanics, processes and control. More than 7,500 students and 2,700 staff members live, work and recreate at the UT, the <st2:country-region w:st="on"><st2:place w:st="on">Netherlands</st2:place></st2:country-region>' only campus university.
The Faculty of Behavioural Sciences offers the following Bachelor programmes: Educational Design, Media and Management <st1:citation w:st="on">(EDMM)</st1:citation>, Communication Studies <st1:citation w:st="on">(TCW)</st1:citation> and Psychology <st1:citation w:st="on">(PSY)</st1:citation>, the following Master programmes: Educational Science and Technology <st1:citation w:st="on">(EST)</st1:citation>, Philosophy of Science, Technology and Society <st1:citation w:st="on">(PSTS)</st1:citation>, Communication Studies <st1:citation w:st="on">(CS)</st1:citation>, Psychology <st1:citation w:st="on">(PSY)</st1:citation> the Research Master Social Systems Evaluation & Survey Research and two Masters for Teachers.
Most of the faculty's research is carried out within the Institute for Behavioral Research <st1:citation w:st="on">(IBR)</st1:citation>, and focuses on the themes Health and Safety, Labor and Organization, Knowledge and Education and Communication and Media. Furthermore research is carried out within the Biomedical Institute <st1:citation w:st="on">(BMTI)</st1:citation>, Mesa+ and the Institute for Information and Communication Technology <st1:citation w:st="on">(CTIT)</st1:citation>.
The Department of Organizational Psychology and Human Resource Development <st1:citation w:st="on">(OP&HRD)</st1:citation> contributes to several courses at the Bachelor <st1:citation w:st="on">(Psychology and Educational Science)</st1:citation> level. The department manages two one-year Master in Science programs; one is the MSc-HRD <st1:citation w:st="on">(Educational Science)</st1:citation>, the other is the MSc-Organisational Psychology. The department includes 6 tenured staff members, and 10 PhD students with a wide variety of interests and backgrounds, and embraces a broad range of research approaches with a keen focus on quality scholarship
Our current research program comprises three scientifically and societally relevant research themes that are strongly interconnected: effects of HRM/HRD, cross cultural psychology, and conflict management. Tasks
· Conducting empirical research on topics or themes related to the research topics of the department of OP&HRD <st1:citation w:st="on">(see website page 'Research' and link to 'Overview of our research program' and to 'Overview of recent publications')</st1:citation>.
· Contributing to the acquisition of external funding of research projects <st1:citation w:st="on">(especially NWO)</st1:citation>.
· <st1:citation w:st="on">(Co)</st1:citation>supervising PhD students.
· Teaching courses in the faculty's Bachelor and Master programs.
· Participating in committees at the university and faculty levels.
Profile
· Being enthusiastic and ambitious.
· PhD in Organisational psychology, HRM/HRD, Organizational Sociology, or a related area.
· High-quality publications in international, peer-reviewed academic journals, in one of the three domains of the department.
· Proven excellent teaching skills and teaching experience.
· Be able to acquire external funding of research.
Offer
A tenure position after two years of excellent scientific and educational results. The level of the appointment depends on the qualifications of the candidate. The salary, according to university standards in the <st2:country-region w:st="on"><st2:place w:st="on">Netherlands</st2:place></st2:country-region>, depends on research years of experience and qualifications and ranges between € 3.129,- and € 4.868,- gross per month for Assistant Professors, for a full-time position. In addition, there are a 8% holiday allowance and a 6.4% end-of-year bonus. Depending on qualifications, an appointment at the Associate Professor level can be considered, and the salary will be adjusted accordingly. Starting date preferably between September 1st 2008 and January 1st 2009.
