Hi all,
The deadline to register for the Organizational Behavior Junior Faculty Workshop is next Friday, June 17. See below for details, and feel free to contact us with any questions!
We are writing to invite junior faculty members to attend the 2011 OB Junior Faculty Workshop at the Academy of Management meeting in San Antonio on Friday, August 12 and Saturday, August 13. Get feedback on your research from scholars with rich editorial experience. Exchange experiences with colleagues like you at different schools. Learn about how senior scholars have built successful research careers. Gain advice on how to be an effective teacher and mentor. Discuss how to pursue different career paths and balance different career demands. The OB Junior Faculty Workshop addresses these issues and many more.
The workshop will feature panel discussions with a diverse range of invited Faculty Fellows, as well as small group research discussions. Topics will include Conducting Interesting and High Impact Research, Having Impact as a Teacher and Mentor, and Surviving the Tenure Process while Balancing Work and Family. The program also provides a unique opportunity to gain feedback on your own scholarly work. The following scholars will participate as Faculty Fellows: Deborah Ancona, Sigal Barsade, Kim Elsbach, Michele Gelfand, Cristina Gibson, Adam Grant, Avi Kluger, Keith Murnighan, Sim Sitkin, Barry Staw, David Thomas, and Michele Williams.
To be eligible, you must (a) be a member of the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy as of May 2011, (b) have completed at least one year in a faculty position, and (c) have completed your PhD in the last five years (since 2006). To register, please send the following information to Adam Grant (grantad@wharton.upenn.edu):
· Full contact information
· A current curriculum vitae
· A 2-3 page (double spaced) summary of a working paper or project in progress. This will be forwarded to relevant Workshop Faculty Fellows, as well as to other participants.
· Two topics/areas of interest, as we will use this to match you with at least one of our Faculty Fellows. One of the topics should reflect your working paper/project in progress.
The workshop will begin with dinner the evening of Friday, August 12 and conclude in the afternoon on Saturday, August 13. There is a registration fee of 150.00 U.S. dollars to partially defray meal costs, payable by check or credit card, to the Academy of Management. The deadline to register is June 17, 2011.
Warm regards,
Adam Grant and Michele Williams
