    Just a friendly reminder – the registration deadline for the OB Division Junior Faculty Workshop (May 31) is fast approaching!

    Would you like feedback on your research from people with lots of reviewing and editorial experience? Want to exchange experiences with people like you at different schools? Want to learn how to be an effective teacher and mentor? Want to know more about pursuing different career paths and how to balance different career demands? The OB Junior Faculty Workshop addresses these issues and much more!

    The OB Division would like to invite junior faculty members to attend the 2008 OB Junior Faculty Workshop – part of the 2008 Academy of Management meeting in Anaheim. The Workshop begins with dinner on August 8 and ends with two Editors' Panels on the morning of August 10.

    The workshop will include presentations by a diverse range of invited faculty fellows, as well as small group research discussions. Topics addressed will include conducting interesting and high impact research/publishing, having impact as a teacher and mentor, and navigating different types of academic careers. The program also provides a unique opportunity to gain research feedback on your own scholarly work. For 2008, the following scholars will participate as faculty fellows: John Cordery, Kurt Dirks, Larry Farh, Bard Kuvaas, Kyle Lewis, Sally Maitlis, Rob Moorman, Greg Oldham, Maria Rotundo, Debra Shapiro, Lynn Shore, Christine Stamper, Daniel Turban and Jacqueline Coyle-Shapiro.     To register for this workshop you must be a member of the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy as of May, 2008. The workshop is most useful for participants who have completed at least one year in an academic position, and who have completed their PhD within the last five years. In your registration materials, please include the following:

    • Full contact information
    • A current curriculum vitae
    • A 2-3 page (double spaced) summary of a working paper or project in progress. This will be forwarded to relevant Workshop Faculty Fellows, as well as to other participants who share your interests.
    • Nominate two topics/areas of interest as we will use this to match you with at least one of our Faculty Fellows. One of the topics should reflect your working paper/project in progress.
    • A registration fee of 150 U.S. dollars to partially defray meal costs will be payable upon acceptance when registering for the workshop.

    The deadline to register for the Organizational Behavior Junior Faculty Workshop is next Friday, June 17.  See below for details, and feel free to contact us with any questions!

     

    We are writing to invite junior faculty members to attend the 2011 OB Junior Faculty Workshop at the Academy of Management meeting in San Antonio on Friday, August 12 and Saturday, August 13.  Get feedback on your research from scholars with rich editorial experience. Exchange experiences with colleagues like you at different schools. Learn about how senior scholars have built successful research careers. Gain advice on how to be an effective teacher and mentor. Discuss how to pursue different career paths and balance different career demands. The OB Junior Faculty Workshop addresses these issues and many more.

     

    The workshop will feature panel discussions with a diverse range of invited Faculty Fellows, as well as small group research discussions. Topics will include Conducting Interesting and High Impact Research, Having Impact as a Teacher and Mentor, and Surviving the Tenure Process while Balancing Work and Family. The program also provides a unique opportunity to gain feedback on your own scholarly work. The following scholars will participate as Faculty Fellows: Deborah Ancona, Sigal Barsade, Kim Elsbach, Michele Gelfand, Cristina Gibson, Adam Grant, Avi Kluger, Keith Murnighan, Sim Sitkin, Barry Staw, David Thomas, and Michele Williams.

     

    To be eligible, you must (a) be a member of the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy as of May 2011, (b) have completed at least one year in a faculty position, and (c) have completed your PhD in the last five years (since 2006).
