    Colleagues,

On behalf of the Organizational Behavior Division, I would like to share with you some details about our upcoming Plenary Session, which will be held on Monday, August 10, from 9:45AM - 11:15AM in Regency Ballroom C of the Hyatt Regency Vancouver (program session #1013).  As indicated in the program, the session will consist of a dialogue and debate concerning the relevance of OB research to practice.  To engage this issue, we are extremely pleased to share with you the panelists for this session:

Angelo DeNisi, Professor of Organizational Behavior and Albert Cohen Chair in Business Administration, Freeman School of Business, Tulane University

Jennifer Kurkoski, Director and Research Scientist, People & Innovation Lab (PiLab), Google, Inc.

Gary Latham, Secretary of State Professor of Organizational Effectiveness and Professor of Organizational Behaviour and HR Management, Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto

Edward Lawler, Distinguished Professor of Business and Director of the Center for Effective Organizations, Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California

Jone Pearce, Dean's Professor of Organization and Management, Paul Merage School of Business, University of California, Irvine

This esteemed panel brings a wealth of expertise relevant to the relationship between research and practice, and we are very fortunate that they have agreed to share and exchange their views with us.  In light of the complex and multifaceted nature of the question under consideration, the panelist have been invited to consider the degree to which OB research is relevant to practice, as opposed to anchoring an extreme position, and array themselves on a continuum that will be organized at the session itself.  In addition, we have expanded the issue that the panelists will consider to include not just one, but three questions:

Is OB research relevant to practice?

Should OB research be relevant to practice?

Can OB research be relevant to practice?

After the panelists discuss and debate these questions, we will open the floor for dialogue with the participants in the session.

I hope you will attend what promises to be an interesting and informative session!

    Regards to all,

    Jeff Edwards
