    Dear Colleagues,

A thesis student of mine is working on a study that examines the relationship between emotional intelligence and performance. Her main hypotheses involve looking at different job variables (from O*NET) as moderators of that relationship. As a result, she needs to get her surveys (and the MSCEIT) completed by employees from a wide variety of occupations.

We have both forwarded the survey to all of our contacts, and asked them to forward to their contacts. Yet the response rate is much lower than either of us expected (mainly due to employees not wanting to send a survey to their supervisor and employees not wanting to take the 30-45 minute ability-based EI test).

I am including a link to her survey in this email. If you are willing, could you please forward this to any of your non-academic contacts who you think might be willing to participate (business associates, friends, family)? She is looking for all types of jobs, so any working adult (non-student) will do. The main criteria is that they are willing to complete the lengthy EI measure (in exchange for a chance to win $300) and willing to forward a very SHORT (10-minute) survey to their supervisor (basically a performance rating form). There's a drawing for supervisors, too.

The following link goes to her website that will explain the details. Participants should go to this website to begin participation.

Even if you are not willing to pass the survey on, I wonder if you have any suggestions for recruiting more participants (places to post the survey, etc.). I'm all out of suggestions for her and would like to see her finish her project on time (this semester).

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Sincerely,

    Erin Richard

    Dear Erin,
I have made in te past a pilot survey using yahoo and msn groups. I wonder
if you could try the same. This involves a previous free registratiom, which
takes time and patience but the results might worth the effort. I got 80
    replies in 3 weeks.
    I wish you luck.
