I believe Linked In is primarily used by 'business folks', not academia.
And, there is an organization here in Atlanta, Boardwalk consulting, that focuses on leadership placement in non profits. My former client and friend, Kathy Bremer is there. Perhaps that can be a source for you.

Subject: Research on interim executive management during planned or unplanned executive transitions
I am finding myself intrigued by LinkedIn, a professional networking tool as a opportunity for collaboration through online networking. I wonder if this is used by academics or researchers or are you aware of a similar site?
Next month, I begin doctoral studies. My research will be around the use of interim executive management during planned or unplanned executive transitions, specifically in voluntary organizations, e.g., associations and nonprofits. This is the service that my company has provided since 2000. From my preliminary research there seems to be is little formal writing on the topic beyond Katherine Farquhar's work. Do any authors or related research topics come to mind that I might explore?
Lastly, any pearls of wisdom as I start on this journey?
Thanks. I appreciate your thoughts and support.
All best,
Jackie
