  • 1.  Collection of OB/HR Classroom Resources

    Posted 05-07-2015 11:40

    Hi All,

Attached, please find a document containing many of the resources suggested by folks in response to my below message.  I've organized the document into three parts: general resources addressing multiple topics in OB and/or HR (pp. 1-3), resources related to specific HR topics (pp. 4-5), and resources related to specific OB topics (pp. 6-8).  To be included in the document a resource had to be specific enough that a user can find it relatively easily.  For example, excluded would be listing a TV show (e.g., Star Trek, The Office) for a given category (e.g., recruiting, motivation) without identifying a given episode or clip.  I have included an entire resource, such as a film, when it appears to apply to a given category; e.g., Whiplash as a resource for the motivation topic.

I hope you find the resources useful – I've already began using some in my classes and found them to be wonderful supplements.  Many thanks to the many contributors who offered suggestions!

    Best wishes,

    Tom

    Hi OBers,

I'm updating my video collection for my future OB/HR and OD classes and would like to know if you can recommend any particularly great DVDs (preferably recent), web links, etc. on OB/HR and OD topics.  I teach all the usual OB topics (e.g., motivation, leadership, team dynamics), HR topics (e.g., selection, training, compensation), and OD topics (e.g., human process interventions, technostructural interventions, strategic  change interventions).

As you probably know, there is a mountain of options out there, so I'm trying to narrow my search.  Your help is very much appreciated!

    Dear Tom,

Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I have been copying the response emails as they came in, but it is much better to see it organized. It takes a lot of time to accumulate relevant youtube, TedTalk, and film clips to match all the topics that we cover.

One film that I believe has not been mentioned but may be considered for Team concepts (or even Organizational Culture) is "The Internship." It is sadly not very 'PC,' but it is funny and current.

Best regards and have a great summer,
