    Prof. Evan Apfelbaum's Diversity Lab at MIT Sloan School of Management is seeking a part-time Lab Manager/Research Specialist to examine the impact of diversity on individual, group, and organizational processes. This is a one year position with the possibility of an extension to a second year.

    This position would be an excellent fit for an individual looking to strengthen his/her research skills before applying to graduate school in social psychology, organizational behavior, or a related field of behavioral science.


    Responsibilities

    The lab manager will oversee day-to-day research being conducted, including general research project management, data collection in lab, field, and online environments, programming studies (e.g., via Qualtrics, MediaLab), managing and developing opportunities for participant recruitment (e.g., MTurk, MIT Behavioral Research Lab, online panels), creating/modifying IRB proposals, developing stimuli, processing data, training and supervising undergraduate research assistants, scheduling studies and research meetings, assisting with literature reviews, editing manuscripts, and maintaining lab supplies. The lab manager will be encouraged to attend departmental seminars and "B-lab" (the MIT-wide behavioral research working group co-directed by Professor Apfelbaum). Once settled, the research specialist may also be given the opportunity to cultivate his/her own research agenda.

     

    Requirements

    -Applicants must be extremely conscientious, self-motivated, reliable, and have excellent organizational skills

    -Applicants must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

    -Applicants must be able to work well independently and be able to manage several research projects simultaneously.

    -Applicants should hold a Bachelor's degree in psychology, organizational behavior or a related field of behavioral science.

    -Applicants should have experience with experimental research in psychology or a related field of behavioral science.

    -Applicants should have an interest in issues of race, gender, diversity, and intergroup relations
